PSOJ Demands Speedy Tabling of SOE Regulations

Not for the first time and perhaps why the statement was so firm in demanding a change in the approach to tabling the regulations for the latest enhanced security measures. President of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica( PSOJ) Keith Duncan in a statement on Friday explains the government can and should seek to improve in this regard. Duncan says the PSOJ is disappointed in the Government of Jamaica since there is an understanding the emergency powers are powerless without the regulations.

The last time the Holness led administration attempted to extend an emergency security measure in the Parliament the Opposition members countered, adding that they did not receive the regulations in time. The current States of Public Emergency have been declared since Tuesday. The regulations which were recently withdrawn were eventually tabled in the Senate, Friday.
