Displaced residents from communities in Bull Bay, who took refuge at the St. Benedict’s Primary School were promised a range of alleviation methods to aid in rebuilding their damaged homes.

Mayor of Kingston and St. Andrew, Delroy Williams says included in the plans to regularize communities, is a discount for officially revalidating land and the access to a list of approved draftsmen will be made available to help with the remaking of new structures.

Member of Parliament for East Rural St. Andrew, Juliet Holness says though she has plans to help three of the residents who were badly affected by the rain, she says each citizen has a responsibility to protect themselves.

Additionally, Holness revealed that many who have been affected so far do not have paperwork to prove that their houses were built legally.

Mayor Williams went on to speak on the plans he also has in fixing the roads in the corporate area under his jurisdiction.

He says plans are being put in place to develop a better road maintenance and drainage strategy tying in with the vision the municipality has to make the capital a tourist destination.
