Prime Minister Andrew Holness says renovations to the Prime Minister’s official residence Vale Royal are underway. However, he says the process to make it an official landmark under the National Heritage Trust Act has been challenging. He was speaking in the Lower House Tuesday during the question-and-answer proceedings.

PM Holness highlights that under the Jamaica National Heritage Trust Act of 1985, there is a legal process under which the national monument can be protected. He notes there were steps taken, however, there were issues. He says instructions have been given for the various procedures to be corrected for the historical monument to be fully classified under the National Heritage Trust Act.

In response to which government agency is responsible for the maintenance of the property, which is the official residence of the Prime Minister, he says that responsibility lies with his office. Watch the report:
