Portland Sees 60% Crime Reduction

The Portland police division said they will remain relentless in their pursuit to rid the area of guns, gangs, and criminals as the parish sees a 60 percent reduction in crime so far this year, compared to 2021.

Superintendent of Police for the Portland Division, Kenneth Chin, says the police success is coupled with the efforts of residents. He says the Portland police remain relentless in solving cases.

The relationship between residents and the police continues to reap rewards. However, despite the reduction in other areas, Superintendent Chin admits the parish is challenged with domestic disputes which have resulted in fatalities. He is warning wanted men that the parish is not a safe haven for gangsters. More details in this report:
