The Jamaica Pig Farmers Association, in collaboration with the government, has launched an innovative campaign to encourage increased consumption of pork among Jamaicans.
Named ‘Pork Jamaica – The Tastier Protein Choice,’ this marketing initiative, unveiled on Tuesday, aims to bolster local pork consumption by showcasing its versatility as a primary protein source. Interestingly, Jamaica’s thriving pig industry has led to a surplus of pork production, surpassing local demand. To proactively address this surplus, the Pig Farmers Association has partnered with the government in a creative endeavor. Their strategy involves encouraging Jamaicans to indulge more in what many affectionately refer to as ‘Trenton,’ thereby supporting the local pig industry while promoting pork as a delicious and nutritious dietary choice.
