The waste management authority is reporting that the barrier to more frequent and efficient garbage collection across Jamaica is due to the continued shortage of reliable compactor trucks. Executive Director of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) Audley Gordon is once again appealing to Jamaicans to remain responsible for their waste until they are collected.

He says 50 of 100 new compactor trucks that were promised by the government are expected to arrive by the end of 2022.
