There was a double murder within the vicinity of the Dupont Primary School on Olympic Way, St. Andrew on Thursday, around 9:30 am.
The two men were said to be standing along the side of the road when at least two men came out of a vehicle and opened gunfire. Reports are that residents heard gunshots and alerted the police. The men were later taken to the Kingston Public Hospital (KHP) where they were pronounced dead.
The police say it appears one of the victims was allegedly targeted due to allegations of his son’s involvement in gang-related activities. Senior superintendent of police for the St. Andrew South Division, Kirk Ricketts told CVM LIVE, it is the first murder for Olympic Way Since January 2022, but the fourth in the division.
The Superintendent says such criminality will not be tolerated and is urging residents to trust and cooperate with the police to help catch the criminals.
The police have not yet released the identities of the men.
