Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson says as of July 2022 major crimes equal those committed during the same period in 2021. There is an increase in murders, spurred by gang and familial conflicts which cannot be ignored.
Another cause for concern is the upward trend in robberies, which Anderson says the Force is focused on reducing. He says an adjustment to personnel in certain divisions have been made and another team of quick response motorcyclists will be deployed by the end of August. The Commissioner notes there has been a 4 percent increase in the seizure of firearms. Watch the report below:
