Police Commissioner Backs Chang’s Use of Force Remark 

The National Security Minister, Police Commissioner, and members of the Jamaica Broilers Group visited relatives of Sunday’s mass shooting in Spring Village, St Catherine. The Commissioner rendered support and promised to provide more resources for crime fighting. He also came to the rescue of the Security Minister who’s been coming under fire for recent remarks. During the visit, Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson. launched a defence in support of the national security minister who continues to encourage lawmen to prioritize their lives when they come under gun attacks.   Major General Antony Anderson did not mince words in making it clear that the police must always prevail.

Sunday’s mass shooting at a football match in the community left three persons – including the intended target dead and six wounded. The atmosphere remains thick with grief. The Police Commissioner in seeking to reassure residents, pledges more boots on the ground.

SSP Christopher Phillips says the resources will no doubt make a difference, adding, there are specific gangs the police will be targeting. Meanwhile, he says the investigation has revealed that one of the culprits was injured, adding that it’s only a matter of time before the police make a significant breakthrough in Sunday’s deadly attack.
