PNP’s Delegates Prepare For Upcoming Presidential Runoff

Delegates go to polls on November 7 – It has been a little over a year since the last presidential run-off took place in the People’s National Party (PNP), and still, the promise of unity has not been fulfilled. A seemingly divided bunch; but the party is looking to mend its broken vessels with the upcoming presidential runoff, which will see a new leader elected.

Instead of one PNP, rising united the party is evidently divided with battle lines being drawn. Now the delegates will again go to the polls to choose a leader for the 82 year old party on November 7.

The nomination period will run from October 19 to 23. The final delegates list will be made available by October 30.

And the race for the presidency has been narrowed down to two front runners, Lisa Hanna and Mark Golding. Senator Norman Horne who had indicated his interest in leading the party has backed down.

In a release, he stated that the election date is too short a period for any new aspirant to have a chance of being successful at the polls.

Meanwhile Mikael Phillips has confirmed that he will not be offering himself up for presidency, instead he wishes to be involved in the rebuilding efforts of the party. Julian Robinson has also confirmed that he will not be running.
