Highly placed PNP sources have confirmed the Party’s general secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell has been recommended as candidate for member of parliament in Westmoreland Eastern.

It’s also understood the opposition’s spokesman on education, Damion Crawford has been recommended for member of Parliament in St. Catherine North Western.

CVM NEWS was also told Senator Peter Bunting is the Executive Assignee for Manchester Southern.

Our sources say the changes have not been cemented by the PNP Exec nor NEC just yet, but are confident the changes will hold.

Is Crawford back on the PNP’s frontline?

It appears Damion Crawford’s desire to return to representational politics is one on the brink of becoming a reality.
On Saturday, highly placed PNP sources told CVM NEWS the opposition spokesman on education is being considered as Member of Parliament
for St Catherine North Western. The seat is currently being warmed by PNP’s Hugh Graham. Graham’s standing in the PNP has been rocky
since he resigned from the party’s shadow cabinet back in April 2023.

Crawford has not shied away from making his desire to represent St. Catherine NW known and reports suggest his intentions were met
with mixed reactions from the party’s leadership.

Crawford served as MP in St Andrew East Rural from 2011 to 2016 after beating the JLP’s Joan Gordon Webley with a margin of 259 votes.

Sometime before the 2016 General Election, Crawford, who at the time also served as State Minister of Tourism and Entertainment, shared he wouldn’t vie for
the seat again.

Instead, in the 2019 Portland Eastern by-elections, he contested against the JLP’s Ann-Marie Vaz, who beat him by a 319 votes difference.

CVM NEWS understands Crawford’s assignment in St Catherine North Western has not been finalized by the party’s executive body, nor the National Executive Council,
but sources are very confident Graham will step aside and Crawford will step in.
