Opposition Spokesperson on Transport Mikael Phillips insists the new road laws were poorly enacted. He says the Road Traffic Act is still lacking, despite legislators having enough time to make it right. It is said a house must be built on a solid foundation if it is to last.
It has been eight days since the enactment of the new road traffic act and there have been controversies ever since the most recent amendment was made just six days after the act was passed. According to Mikael Phillips, the government had enough time to effectively lay a foundation. Earlier this week, Minister of Transport, Audley Shaw asserted there will be a three-month period for further deliberations and if necessary more amendments, while Minister Phillips agrees it is feasible, he believes for it to work there are conditions to be met.
