Director-General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) Dr Wayne Henry on Wednesday announced growth of 6 per cent for the January to March quarter of 2022 when compared to the period in 2021. He was speaking at the PIOJ’s media briefing highlighting the preliminary estimate on the performance of the economy for the 1st quarter. The PIOJ also provided an economic outlook for April to June 2022. Dr Henry says the outturn reflected an increase in tourism demand and related performance in the transportation and services industry.
Meanwhile, the Director-General says looking ahead to the April to June 2022 quarter preliminary expectations are that the economy will grow between 2 to four per cent relative to the same period in 2021. Watch the full report here:
