Physical Classes resumed on Monday (January 3) in hundreds of schools for the first time in over a year.
After stopping at a few schools in the corporate area we noticed a few that were open with a low turnout of students, other schools had only teachers and administrative staff present, a few others are to be opened next Monday, January 10, for some the open date is yet to be determined.
Our news team made the first stop at the Dunrobin Primary School in St. Andrew where students were not present, only teachers and administrative staff. Principal Sacheel Grant-Henry says they are doing the final preparations to officially resume face-to-face learning on Wednesday. She notes there was a slight decline in academic performance, but accountability regarding students’ engagements.
The Dunrobin Basic School has been open since November.
At the United Early Childhood Development Centre Principal Shawn Jennifer-Smith says the turnout of students was low.
The Pembroke Hall High school was not in session as it was being occupied by teachers and other staff members. They too are scheduled to reopen next Monday. It was a similar scene at the Queens High School for Girls in St. Andrew. The school was only open to students participating in track and field.
