The Government resumed Pfizer administration of the vaccine on Monday, November 1, and of the roughly 85-thousand people due their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine, over 16-thousand had received their jabs up to Wednesday, November 3. The confirmation came from Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor-Mckenzie, who says persons have been using the appointment system.
One worker at the Good Samaritan Inn, Kingston on November 3, told CVM Live there has been a large turnout for Pfizer second doses since administration resumed on Monday, adding that a few persons without appointments have been accommodated.
According to her, many persons have also been showing up for the AstraZeneca and single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccines. Persons did not wish to speak on camera but, an elderly man confirmed that he encountered a smooth process while receiving his Pfizer second dose. It was a similar experience for two other men who received their second jab at St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Andrew.
On Tuesday, November 2, Parish Manager for the St. James Health Department, Lennox Wallace, said the turnout for Pfizer second jabs in the parish has been good so far, adding that the process has been orderly. An additional 200 thousand doses of the Pfizer vaccine arrived in the country on Wednesday; the second tranche of the United States donation.
