Over 1200kg Of Ganja Seized In St. Thomas, Five Men In Custody

In an operation conducted by the Narcotics Division in St. Thomas, law enforcement authorities successfully seized a substantial quantity of ganja on Wednesday, December 27. The operation carried out on Ken Jones highway in the parish around 11:00 a.m., unfolded at a specific location along the roadway, resulting in the discovery of 1220 kilograms of a substance closely resembling ganja. The estimated street value of the confiscated illicit drug is reported to be a staggering JMD 12.2 million, highlighting the magnitude of the bust. The successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of the authorities to curb the illegal drug trade in the region.

Following the discovery, five individuals who were present at the premises during the operation were promptly arrested and taken into custody. Authorities are currently withholding the identities of these individuals as investigations unfold. The nature of their involvement in the illegal activities that led to the seizure is yet to be fully determined. Additionally, a sixth person who was present at the scene managed to elude the police, prompting a comprehensive manhunt to bring the individual to justice.
