With Prime Minister Andrew Holness hinting at a vaccine mandate to be implemented after the government completes its public education campaign, the Opposition Spokesman on Health Dr. Morais Guy says certain criteria must be fulfilled before mandatory inoculation is considered.

Dr. Guy while noting that Jamaica will eventually reach the point of mandating COVID-19 vaccines, says the government must change the “get vaccinated” message before this is considered. The Prime Minister has been visiting blitz sites in different parishes as part of the government’s vaccine mobilization and public education campaign.

But Dr. Guy insists that this is not the best approach and stresses that doctors should be among those delivering the message in communities.
