Opposition Member of Parliament Phillip Paulwell for East Kingston and Port Royal is raising concerns about the developments currently underway in Port Royal.

According to him, these activities are only benefitting the contractors and not the residents. He believes that the Government should implement the necessary initiatives to ensure that these residents are apart of this development.

One resident shared that she is concerned about what is taking place. She says she has been living in the area for several years and feels that the rising water might soon completely destroy the shoreline and affect communities. She disclosed that there is barriers in place near the shoreline but the communities are exposed and the likelihood of a Hurricane creates an unsafe environment.

She is appealing for Government intervention.

Back in, 2010, The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) sent out a release advising the  public that two permits and two licences were granted to the National Works Agency (NWA) for the Palisadoes Shoreline Protection Project.
