Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Julian Robinson, is insisting the government creates a more transparent process for its compensation reform structure. He says the lack of information plays a pivotal role in the recent industrial action carried out by public sector workers.

Shadow Minister on Finance, Julian Robinson, says the government must rethink the approach it is taking to negotiations.

Robinson admits while the objectives are good, in which the Opposition supports simplifying the compensation structure, the process is flawed. He says the government has spent two years with internal consultants, developing a review of the compensation structure.

However, key stakeholders are just being brought into the process, hence, misinformation.

He says given the unrest last week with three strikes, the government should use this opportunity to rethink the way it has been communicating with the critical stakeholders, instead of sending out information in a piecemeal manner.
