Opposition Calls for MP Suspension

Assault allegations concerning Westmoreland Central Member of Parliament (MP), George Wright sparked a political wildfire on Tuesday, April 13 during the Sitting of the House of Representatives after opposition members sought to modify a motion to suspend the MP.

The first time MP and member of the governing Jamaica Labour Party ( JLP), is allegedly the man in a viral video seen beating a woman first with his hands than with a stool for minutes.

The MP has come under fire from gender rights and political advocates condemning violence against women and girls.
