With more strains of the coronavirus presenting with different symptoms, making it harder to identify, the recent spike in infections in countries like China, creates a sense of fear, at the possibility of having a repeat of the virus’ impact on public health and livelihoods. 

Exactly why Junior Shadow Spokesperson on Health, Jessie James Clarke is urging the governing Jamaica Labour Party to ensure that persons who have traveled to China recently provide a negative PCR Covid test before they are granted entry into the country.

Noting the possibility of the sector cracking under pressure, James Clarke highlights the already limited resources in the sector even before the pandemic. As he laments the many deaths caused by the virus, he is again appealing to the government to protect the lives of citizens. 

Following the increase in Covid-19 cases in several countries, the Health Ministry is urging citizens to get vaccinated, for those who have already done so, to get their booster shots.
