Shadow Minister on Health, Dr. Morais Guy, is condemning the government’s move to remove the mask and pre-testing travel requirements. Dr. Guy says this announcement will have repercussions and must be revisited before it’s too late. He’s pleading with citizens to continue to wear their masks. Dr. Guy says the government’s decision to remove the pre-testing requirement to travel to Jamaica is a reckless move.

This follows the Prime Minister’s announcement that pre-testing for travel to Jamaica and masks mandate for enclosed public places, will expire on Friday, April 15.

Dr. Guy says with only 24 per cent of the population vaccinated, this move will only put the people at risk. He says the world health organization, w-h-o, has warned the public that the pandemic is not over. Therefore, they still recommend the use of masks, especially in enclosed spaces. Dr. Guy is urging the government to rethink this particular position, adding their current recommendation is misguided.

Meanwhile, he’s pleading with locals to protect themselves from the virus. He insists the removal of the mask mandate does not prevent persons from wearing masks if required as a protective mechanism.
