The National Water Commission is moving to implement a Bill Redemption System for citizens who have been severely affected by the water disruptions. The announcement was made today by the Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Senator Pearnel Charles Junior.

Senator Charles Junior says this move will assist many residents in the corporate areas who have been affected by limited water supply.

He notes that the lack of sufficient rainfall has contributed to the drought conditions and the prohibition order which remains in effect.

Meanwhile, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Water Commission, Mark Barnett, notes that the NWC aims to write off an estimated $150 million dollars in bills. He says they will be following a particular procedure and critera in ensuring that this is done,

Barnett also notes that the NWC has also created a database of the customers who have been affected. He says there is no need for customers to visit their officers as they will be contacted directly.
