After reports of inconsistency in garbage collection in Linstead Square, St. Catherine, Executive Director of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), Audley Gordon is renewing his call for citizens to take responsibility for their waste, especially since there is still a shortage of garbage trucks.

Gordon says the entity makes every effort to rid the Linstead Town centre of garbage nightly, but he says at times the pile-up of garbage is overwhelming, also noting the shortage of trucks and at times, mechanical issues with the older units.

As it relates to ticketing litterbugs, Gordon says this is being done not only in Linstead but island-wide. However, he says, there need to be larger fines, citing fines of $10,000 and less. More details here:
