National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) officials took to the streets of Linstead, St Catherine Wednesday encouraging business operators to practice proper solid waste management. The education blitz allowed business owners to register with the authority for proper garbage disposal. 

The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) executives, law enforcement and the councilor were out in the streets of Linstead, St Catherine on a solid waste management campaign. The aim was to encourage them to sign up with the NSWMA who would collect their waste to have a cleaner Linstead. Executive Director of the NSWMA, Audley Gordon explained how to better the collection efforts in the town. He acknowledged that the space is difficult to work in because of the volume of businesses there.

With the help of the authority’s commercial services, locals were sensitized on solid waste management methods to avoid potential infractions. Gordon highlighted the importance of building relationships to see long term change.

On the scene was the councillor for the Linstead Division, Herbert Garriques, in full support of the intervention which he says will help drive his vision for the area forward.
