The next vaccination blitz for Jamaicans seventy-five years and older has been scheduled for Saturday, April 3.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness says political representatives from five constituencies in Kingston and St. Andrew have been engaged to target senior citizens to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Health Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton says each member of parliament is expected to target 100 seniors over 75 years old  to be vaccinated.

Additionally, he says online registration portal is still open as well as  the contact number, 888-one-love.

According to the Ministry, it received 662 seniors registered to be vaccinated last Saturday.

However, only 647 received the jab. The Ministry was targeting 1000 people.

Dr. Tufton is urging citizens who recently received their first jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine to adhere to the protocols.

As of March 29, almost thirty eight thousand Jamaicans have received the vaccine.

Meanwhile, the Health Minister says Jamaica is expected to receive the third shipment of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Thursday as the Government seeks to boost the island-wide vaccination programme.
