With toll prices set to increase on July 2, some residents and motorists in Portmore, St. Catherine is condemning the move. They insist the toll rate increase is a slap in the face amid the ongoing inflation crisis. One resident is calling for a cushion for toll prices for persons residing in Portmore. She says while basic food items and gas prices increase, the same cannot be said for person’s salaries.

Meanwhile, Opposition Spokesman for Transportation, Mikael Phillips, says the new increase is ill-timed and unjust. He’s proposing the government puts a 3 month freeze on the pending toll increase.
