More Closing Arguments in Klansman Trial

As the closing arguments for the defense continue in the Klansman Gang trial, the credibility of witness statements that have been used against accused members is being taken into consideration. The defense, in asking that these witness testimonies be ignored to the detriment of their clients, brought one final witness to the stand.

A police witness testified to signing a police report related to the murder of a man known only as “Outlaw”, from the Spanish Town area in St Catherine. While the lawyer sought to undermine the relevance of the eyewitness, Chief Justice Bryan Sykes questioned the relevance of the motion. Justice Sykes argued that the witness was incapable of providing any clear relevance to the accused charges.

Meanwhile, the lawyer representing Rushane Williams argued that the evidence against Williams was not enough to find that he was a member of a criminal organization. He asked that the court rejects crown witness two’s evidence regarding a meeting with Mr. Williams, emphasizing that crown witness one said nothing about a meeting with Mr. Williams. The lawyer pressed that when crown witness one testified about the murder of Outlaw, at no point in time were the three at the same place together.

Furthermore, she accused crown witness two of lying when he stated that he saw Mr. Miller at a party when he was in custody at the Horizon Remand Centre. She asked that the court rules Williams is not guilty.  Watch the full report for more details:
