Transport Minister, Robert Montague says the current members of the AAJ/NMIA Board have tendered their resignations, this was in his response to the questions posed by the Opposition regarding the AAJ/NMIA First Rock investment deal.
He says he has every intention to accept their resignations in the interest of transparency as calls for a probe by a transparency body be done. Despite not being liable for the alleged breaches, and despite being members of the new board, some members of the Airports Authority of Jamaica, (AAJ) and the Norman Manley International Airport, (NMIA) boards have since tendered their resignations following calls for an investigation into the Board’s operations. Montague noted that the directors who were not members during the purchase of these share have decided to vacate their positions and added that he was heartened by their actions to maintain the integrity of the institution and their dedication to good governance.
Minister Montague’s revelation triggered a heated exchange between the two sides of the house on the way the Government has handled the AAJ and related matters and even more questions. He reiterated that the matter as already been outlined and noted that a workshop will be held with his board.
