MOH Assessing COVID-19 Safety Protocol At Facilities

The Ministry of Health has undertaken several tours across the island to assess the readiness of facilities in handling COVID-19 safety protocol. The most recent tour was at Golden Age Home to ensure protocols implemented were being adhered to.

The disregard for protocols under the Disaster Risk Management act has prompted health officials to get a first hand assessment of undertakings at facilities across the island.

This is in keeping with the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ stance to curb and control the spread of COVID-19.

Dr Tufton had just toured the golden age home along with St Joseph’s home in Kingston. The elderly have been identified as a high-risk group for COVID-19 and special care must be taken in ensuring their safety amid the pandemic.

The Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams and other representatives from the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation were also on the tour. He says the necessary steps must be taken to protect the elderly
