Under the early stimulation programme students with disabilities will now benefit from a Mobile Unit, which was handed over at a launch held in Santa Cruz St. Elizabeth recently.
Minister of Labour and Social Security Zavia Mayne highlights that the stimulation programme caters to children from 0-6 years of age and given the complexities of various deficiencies, the ideal programmes will allow the child to assimilate to the normal systems.
Minister Mayne says that this service is a necessity across the island especially in rural areas. He notes that the registration levels for the stimulation programme have increased in the last five years.
He further adds that there is an orientation process for parents who wish to have their child enrolled in the programme. St. Ann and St. Mary are other parishes in which the Minister says the early intervention programme will be launched.
