Security Forces are now dispersed across St. Catherine, following the imposition of a state of emergency. With this, some residents have told our news team they feel much safe, but others feel the SOE is played out and ineffective.
Following several shootings in St. Catherine over the last few days, resulting in over ten deaths, a state of public emergency has been imposed across the parish. While the imposition isn’t new to the parish, the authorities believe it will be effective in quelling the sudden flare up in overt criminal activities. On the other hand, one taxi operator says he’s grateful for the SOE, as the crime was affecting his business.
He’s confident the intervention will result in persons feeling safer to travel, thus giving him more passengers. However, not everyone is supportive of the SOE. One woman tells CVM Live that strategy does more harm than good.
