There are mixed reactions coming from parents regarding the resumption of face-to-face classes. This, amid an expected spike in COVID -19 cases coming out of the festive season and a new strain of the virus on the island.

Of the one hundred and twenty-nine schools that were selected by the Education Ministry to resume face to face learning, thirteen are in Clarendon.

When CVM Live visited the parish on Monday, January 4,  there was little evidence that for the first time in about nine months at least a dozen schools were now allowed to welcome back their students.

Taxi operators tend to benefit tremendously when school is in session, but for them  this back to school is a reminder of how the COVID-19 has caused extensive disruption in the education system.

Some taxi operators in May Pen say they are yet to feel the students’ presence.

Meanwhile, some parents are resolute they won’t be sending their child to school anytime soon.
