While many Jamaicans have first-hand knowledge that Jamaica has a booming tourism industry, it doesn’t subtract from the fact that efforts are still underway to ensure it maintains its sustainability.

In an address to diplomat’s Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett gave an overview of the tourism sector while outlining future plans. Despite all that is happening in Jamaica currently, 

Bartlett highlighted tourism’s vital role to Jamaica, alluding to the 46.3 billion dollars that was lost in direct revenue in 2020/ 2021 due to the pandemic while highlighting a number of sectors with which tourism interfaces. Bartlett says expanding tourism to achieve sustainability is key, while hinting at the possibility of attracting more skilled workers and investors.
