Leader of the Opposition Mark Golding in his budget presentation also recognized the deep underlying issues that have seemingly perpetuated the propensity towards violent crime in Jamaica, he underscored the need to maintain the rights of the people, while also drawing attention to how Jamaica approaches it spends on national security over time.
Golding raised concerns about how to budget funding is being dispersed to the various arms of the national security apparatus. Mr Golding spoke to the need to find an equilibrium between addressing the root causes as well as the outcomes of violent criminality.
