Divine intervention was called on as an alternative mechanism in one central Kingston community on Sunday, following the death of a district constable in the area.

However, one church leader says the church is not just a place of refuge but a place that cares about the wellbeing of the community as they grapple with the effects of crime and violence.

Senior Pastor Alanzo White who spoke with our news team says the church is not just a place of worship but is also a group that is caring and heavily invested in the needs and activities of the community. Pastor White admits the upsurge in crime and violence is concerning. He also adds that the residents have been receptive to the prayer walks amid the tension in the community.

In the meantime, Member of Parliament for Central Kingston Donavon Williams says the intervention of the church community is much needed at this time. As he says the police have ramped up efforts to maintain order in the area.
