Man Found In St. Catherine Pit Recounts Horrors

Sixty-six-year-old George Smart who survived the ordeal of being abducted and thrown in a pit for three days, far from the sun recalls what he did to get the attention of what he did while in the dark.

Smart said he would beat the drum at intervals to preserve his energy. However, on Saturday he said he heard an unfamiliar sound.

Smart says when he was rescued on Sunday, it was as if he was re-born.

Smart left the pit without injuries, his only medical concern at the time of his rescue was dehydration.

The pit was searched for any human remains but none were found.
