Ahead of the new school term set to begin September 5, the Ministry of Education (MOE) held a media briefing today indicating that more teachers have resigned. The Minister however notes that the Ministry has already filled those vacancies.

Education Minister Fayval Williams provided an update regarding teacher migration, noting that the number of resignations has increased from 167 as was previously reported to almost 250.

The Minister says as the roads are expected to be congested come September 5, the Ministry’s Transportation subsidy will be available for PATH students. With regards to safety and security, she says metal detectors have been installed in a majority of schools; noting six schools will be provided with CCTV cameras at a cost of 15 million dollars. The Education Minister also reported an increase in deans of discipline and guidance councilors. Watch the report:
