Local Government Ministry to Host Series of Town Halls

Clarendon is the first parish to host one of 14 town halls geared towards a development initiative under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

Local Government Minister Desmond Mckenzie addressed residents of Rocky Point in South Clarendon at a town hall recently, as part of the local government’s development initiative.

Minister Mckenzie highlighted upcoming projects to be executed and reported that over 500 million dollars will be allocated to the Ministry geared towards municipalities across Jamaica.

Minister Mckenzie says preparations are already made amid the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season. He noted the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is equipped with the necessary resources in the event of a hurricane. However, he is imploring Jamaican citizens to heed warnings if there is a need for evacuation. Watch the full report:
