Local Government Minister Gifted Indigent Houses

Two persons in St Mary were gifted houses under the Indigent Housing Programme. During a recently held handing-over ceremony, Local Government and Rural Development Minister, Desmond Mckenzie said the government intends to provide more housing units in the new financial year.

The recipients include  Shirley Nugent of Hamilton Mountain in Oracabessa who was gifted a unit valued 4.5 million dollars and  George Simms of Haywood Hall in the parish who was gifted a 5 million dollar unit. While lauding the initiative, Mayor of Port Maria, Richard Creary says the programme provides quality houses constructed with block and steel. The Indigent Housing Programme provides shelter to the vulnerable by offering suitable shelter.
