“Overcrowded” that’s the word from taxi operators of the Linstead Transport Centre in St. Catherine. The taxi operators say they have been having this issue of congestion for years and are calling on the transport authority to intervene.

The taxi operators were out in their numbers to get the attention of the Transport Authority earlier this week for a trial run in an attempt to ease congestion throughout the town. The operators say maneuvering through the town takes hours.

This taxi operator is suggests that another park be constructed to accommodate them. PNP Councillor for the Linstead Division Herbert Garriques says commuters have been informed to utilize the park for transportation. Meanwhile Vice President of the Linstead and Bog Walk Taxi Association Owayne Weir tells our news team that the number of taxis seen in the park is just a small fraction.

He also notes the increase in tickets has become burdensome to operators.
