Technological difficulties have once again stalled the proceedings of the one don Klansman trial. Only one attorney got to cross-examine the prosecution’s second witness who is testifying against alleged gang leader Andre ‘Blackman’ Bryan and 32 of his co-accused.

Technological difficulties resulted in several instances where the internet connection got disrupted between the courtrooms and the remote location during the witness’ testimony on Wednesday, November 17, in the one don Klansman trial.

Chief Justice Bryan Sykes told the court there was not enough bandwidth for two-way connection, an issue he says the registrar had no control over as it is a function of the service provider. As a result, the lunch break was extended for an additional hour for the engineers to rectify the problem.

Earlier, the defense went down a personal road with the witness, when a previous girlfriend of his was surprisingly ushered into the courtroom. The sole purpose was for him to identify her, which he did and called her by her full name, saying “she look black though”. He asserted that it was an on-and-off relationship they had.

Courtney Rowe, the attorney representing defendant Marco Miller otherwise called Ezzie, suggested that the witness is implicating his client out of malice.

Rowe shared knowledge of a relationship the woman also had with his client, claiming that the witness had a rift with Ezzie since 2016 after accusing him of impregnating his on-and-off girlfriend. But the witness laughed and denied this saying Ezzie was not in his league.

The witness gave evidence that Ezzie was allegedly among a group of people, beating two men from Denham Town. According to the witness the gang members allegedly killed and buried both men.

Attorney Rowe intended to finish cross-examining the witness but encountered difficulties when he tried to submit a picture for the witness to identify a particular location. The matter was prematurely adjourned and is expected to reconvene on Thursday, November 18 at 10 am.
