The JetBlue Airways’ Stewardess, Kalina Collier, who created much furor on social media, stating she was kidnapped in Jamaica, has been fired by the airways.

There are also renewed calls this evening, for her to be sanctioned by Jamaica, given the damage done to its brand by her claims

The question is being asked, can she be charged , in light of these damning allegations?

The twenty-two-year old had been suspended from the airline while investigations continue.

the story created many advocates for Collier after they thought she was being trafficked.

The spur of outrage was quelled when Collier said it was not true and said out of anger.

Director of Public Prosecutions, Paula Llewellyn says though this is an unfortunate situation, Collier cannot be prosecuted under the current 2015 Cybercrimes Act for public mischief.

She says one out of the many grounds that makes her ineligible to receive a charge was that she did not make a formal report to police officials.

Llewelyn says though Collier cannot be charged for public mischief, she’s not totally absolved.

Meanwhile, Consulate General of Jamaica have also been affected by the wolf cries from Collier.

Jamaican Consul, Alsion Wilson says the phone calls the Consulate receives per day have more than doubled.

They too were blamed by American citizens for not taking the necessary steps to protect collier who was believed to have been trafficked.
