Justice Minister Calls for Social Involvement in Child Diversion Initiative

In preparation for the November roll-out of the Child Diversion Act, the Justice Ministry says it will be staging sensitization sessions across the island.

A session held on Wednesday in St. Thomas targeted Justices of the Peace and the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Speaking at the session, Justice Minister Delroy Chuck, called for increased social involvement around child diversion, saying this can result in less juvenile delinquents and decreased gang activity.

The National Child Diversion Programme deals with children who have been in trouble with the law.
