Johnson-Smith: Foreign Affairs Ministry Played a Major Role in Ja’s Economic Recovery

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith is crediting her Ministry for playing a major role in Jamaica’s Economic Recovery. She says the Ministry has brought in more than 1.3 billion dollars worth of support to help in getting over COVID-19.

The Minister also highlighted the role of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in repatriating seafarers who were lost at sea. This, she says has resulted in the strengthening of multi-lateral relationships as Jamaica is now regarded as a good partner. In addition, Johnson-Smith says due to that good relationship with other countries, those seafarers were able to find employment far easier when the sector reopened.

Meanwhile, the Minister says attaining Vision 2030 continues to be a work in progress. However, she is confident the Holness administration will take significant steps towards that goal.
