Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) says the States of Public Emergency (SOPE) declared across seven parishes does not appear to be the most successful strategy for tackling crime.

Executive Director of Jamaicans for Justice, Mickel Jackson says the States of Emergency (SOE), have not been very effective in fighting the country’s crime problem. Jackson notes it is challenging to trust the SOE strategy. Meanwhile, many Jamaicans are expressing reservations about the efficacy of the state of public emergency, which has seemingly experienced a plunge in public confidence. The recent murders in St. James, have helped to shatter that confidence. Watch the report here:
