The Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities (JCPD ) is now a statutory body following the enacting of the disabilities act on Valentine’s Day. Executive Director of the JCPD, Dr. Christine Hendricks says they are working closely with a communication consultant to learn how to extract the full benefits of this new law.
She says a public education strategy is being developed to inform the general population as well as persons with disabilities on the significance of the Disabilities Act.
