After 20 days of investigations into the disappearance of 24-year-old social media influencer, Dona-Lee Donaldson, Police Constable Noel Maitland has been charged with her murder. The announcement was made by Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey, at a virtual press conference held by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) on Tuesday. 

DCP Bailey says while Donaldson’s body has not been found, Maitland was charged because of the evidence and information the police compiled since her disappearance.  DCP Bailey says they are yet to ascertain the reason donna lee was killed. He adds that the police are focused on locating her body, as the investigations continue.  Donna-Lee Donaldson was reported missing by her mother on July 13. Her disappearance sparked several protests across the island and as far as Times Square in the United States.

Attorney Says Maitland Maintains His Innocence

Meanwhile, the attorney representing Maitland, Christopher Townsend says his client maintains his innocence in the case of missing Donna-Lee Donaldson. He says they are hoping for a speedy court date to have the charge dismissed.  Watch the full report:
