Taxi and bus operators have returned to work after about two days of strike action across the country. President of the Jamaica Association of Transport Owners and Operators (JATOO), Louis Barton, says the actions of the operators were intended to help the government understand their cries for more time to pay up outstanding traffic tickets. He says commuters might not understand their actions.

Public transport operators have returned normalcy to the public after two days of protest action. Supporting operators return to work on Wednesday, President Barton notes the intention of the all-island strike declares operators’ interest to get additional time to pay up outstanding traffic tickets. He notes the public might not fully understand the intention of the strike. The President reiterates the association sought a payment plan since the beginning of 2022 due to the challenges operators face.

He says there is a need for the government to investigate the number of tickets issued to operators. Watch the report:
