Disgruntled farmers in Windsor, Manchester are accusing bauxite company, Jamalco for the alleged destruction of their crops.

The farmers are calling for the intervention of the authorities in the matter as they say it is likely to threaten their livelihood.

However, Jamalco maintains that it is not at fault.

When CVM Live contacted the company, Corporate Services Manager, Donna-Marie Brooks explains that the land was procured from a farmer’s relative.

Brooks says it was after the clearance, that the farmers started planting crops, but they were reportedly not informed that the land had been sold.

She says a meeting was held with the farmers to advise that they will not be compensated.
